Northwoods Wrap

After closing my loop, I spent a week truck camping. Did some trail riding, and exploring the south shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin and the UP. Lots of waterfalls, picturesque cliffs, trails, and snow!
ok, met some kayakers(Brian and Joerg) truck camping like me. We got on just fine, and shared a campfire and dirt bag camping in the cold and snow!
They ran Black River with the falls pictured above the next day, when it was snowing!
Makes my bike riding look like a poseur!

lot o' small ski areas. They boast 300" of snow a year in some parts of the UP.

Finally, a Memorial plaque on top of Mt. Arvon.
It reads:

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive, well preserved body,
But rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOOHOO, what a ride".

I like the sentiment, as there seem to be vestiges of this in me, yearning, ever yearning, to break free. And sometimes it does.

Won't you join me in a ride?
And a chance to roar
Woohoo
Positive waves
Yippy ki yeah
Bonzia
Or whatever make you sing ....

See you outta doors

Wry Dan
