Northwoods Day 9 - Shawano to Vees Star Campsite

Northwoods Day 9 - Shawano to Vees Star Campsite, half way between Bowler and Matoon WI

Oct 6, 2020

Miles 37.9  (replacement odometers!)
Ride time. 3:58
Total time about 4:30

Camped last night at Fawn Lake Campground just north of Lake Shawano.
Got a little grassy site on the shore of the tiny lake.
Woke up to a wee bit of chill this morning, a few clouds slowing down Ol' Solswork to warm up Gaia, but perseverance resulted in a fine sunny day on the 60s.
What a nice change from last week and the weekend.

I pack up and get a late start, meandering back into and though town for a dozen miles before a picking up the Mountain-Bay State Trail.

The maples and oak are very early in their yearly cycle as I cycle through town, and see the old mill dam. The friendlies pause, smile and wave for a moment as l pass through their daily activities.

The state Trail is fine crushed rock, and flat, so the pace is slower than pavement, but still around 10mph. It goes on and on and on, for about twenty miles.

There are regular signs to little towns and Bars along the way. Ah I see, it is a snowmobile trail in the winter, though non motorized in the summer.  There are a fair number of bridges crossing streams large and small  The last one is a covered bridge just outside Bowler where it meets up with the paved route.

. I take the trail a couple miles farther and take a back road around the busier route road. When I catch up to the route, , I see on my map a few more miles of traffic avoiding back roads, which turns to gravel, narrower, and empty and pleasant.

Finally back on route for a mile or so and my campground appears.

Riding down the road on a sunny day
Hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba
Feeling my bones things goin' my way
Hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba

I'm a happy boy
                  HAPPY BOY!
I'm a happy boy

Ain't tcha happy when things are going your way, aye hey!

And now, time for our political signs of the day
