Miles 52?
Total time about 6:45 hours
Woke up to a clear skies and a good stiff breeze out of the north ripping in off of the lake. Have to set up a wind break to cook breakfast.
The morning sun on the west shore lights the trees up nicely, but not quite as good as last evenings closing show.
I get out relatively early, and head north along the shore, and into the wind.
The trees are nice around the lake, but patchy as I leave the lake and Crandon behind.
It is again chilly in the wind and sun, if I take refuge from the blowing it is pretty nice.
The wind has me eying a shorter, more direct route, though it follows US45 for about 10 miles. I get to the decision point, and I go for the old Military Road Scenic Route. Six more miles, but a good choice; much less traffic, tighter more intimate road, and the wind slows down to a beautiful afternoon on the colorful rollercoaster of the road.
I feel like I am riding my Rolls Canardly.
Again afternoon mph picks up and I get to camp while the sun is still pretty high in the sky, and I can dry out my riding close, always a plus.
I did see these intersting signs along the way
And here are the political signs for today
And this mad, sad, and sober elegy
Beautiful colors. Looks like you have hit a good streak of weather.
ReplyDeleteThe colors have been fantastic. Could have started a week or two earlier and headed straight north.
ReplyDeleteTiming for next year?
